At Grant Ceilings & Interiors Ltd, we specialise in delivering high-quality acoustic solutions for educational and commercial buildings. In this recent project, we were appointed to install 118 suspended acoustic ceiling baffles in a large workshop space within an independent school in Rutland.
The goal: reduce reverberation, improve sound quality, and enhance the visual appeal of a practical learning environment.

Mounting Height: Suspended 400mm below the concrete plank ceiling
Room Height: 3.6m floor to soffit
🔊 Why Acoustic Baffle Installation?
This large, open-plan room — used for practical activities — suffered from high echo and poor speech intelligibility. With multiple students working at once, managing background noise was a challenge.
Suspended acoustic baffles were selected to:

Meet BB93 acoustic guidelines for education
Add visual interest with a clean, modern design
The product used offers Class A sound absorption, is fabric-wrapped in various colours, and is manufactured from eco-friendly materials.
🧰 Installation & Approach
We were appointed to provide a fix-only service, working to a detailed ceiling layout drawing and using baffles and fixings supplied by others.
Our team:
Suspended 118 baffles at uniform height from the concrete soffit
Worked around fixed M&E services and machinery
Delivered within a tight holiday window with no disruption to school operations
Note: The removal of the original ceiling grid and electrical alterations were completed by others prior to our start.
✅ The Result
The finished space is now dramatically quieter, making it easier for students and teachers to communicate and concentrate. The coloured baffles have added a bold, dynamic look to the workshop area, complementing its creative purpose.
